The Science & Benefits

Benefits & Overview

An infrared sauna is a type of sauna that uses infrared heaters to emit infrared light experienced as radiant heat, which is absorbed directly by the surface of the skin. Unlike traditional saunas, which heat the body indirectly by warming the air or by using steam, infrared saunas directly warm the body, allowing for a deeper penetration of the heat at a lower temperature. The temperatures in infrared saunas typically range from about 120°F (49°C) to 140°F (60°C), which is lower than traditional saunas — making the experience more tolerable and allowing for longer sessions that potentially enhance the therapeutic benefits.
Infrared saunas mimic exercise (similar to walking at a moderate rate) with increased heart rate, widened blood vessels, and increased blood flow. This can help boost heart health and reduce blood pressure.
Studies show improvement in people with chronic pain after regular infrared sauna therapy.
Sitting in a cozy warm infrared sauna is good for the soul. It also has been shown to decrease stress, anxiety and depression.
Saunas have been shown to reduce oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can lead to chronic illness, degenerative disease, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. This is a great adjunct to other nutritional reducers of oxidative stress such as Glutathione and Vitamin C.
Studies show that regular sauna use can help strengthen the immune system by increasing white blood cells and core body temperature.
Infrared promotes a deeper level of detox, especially heavy metals, than traditional saunas. Infrared waves penetrate deep to eliminate toxins that accumulate and disrupt well-being — from toxic heavy metals, drug residues, environmental toxicants, and hormone disruptors. Also supports lymphatic drainage and the body's detox systems.
Infrared saunas mimic exercise. This helps the body burn calories and supports healthy weight loss. This is helpful for those that cannot participate in traditional exercise programs.
Near infrared lights help remove dead skin cells, dirt, oil, and bacteria. The increased circulation to the area also helps to reduce the appearance of scars.
Many professional athletes use Sunlighten saunas to recover from their training and injuries as infrared penetrates joints, improves flexibility, relieves muscle soreness, and aids in tissue regeneration.
Prepare for Your Visit

Before You Book

Call us at 404-891-9248 to let us know. We typically can accommodate you (and any friends) for same day or advance appointments.

Wear comfortable, lightweight clothing or a bathing suit. We provide towels. Bring water to stay hydrated — you'll sweat! Avoid heavy meals immediately before your session.

Infrared sauna is included in our Sick Prevention and Women's Wellness iV therapy bundles. The combination amplifies detox, immune, and skin benefits significantly. Ask our team about pairing options at your next visit.

Any iV therapy pairs beautifully with a sauna session — even a simple Hydration or Vitamin + Mineral Blend is a wonderful addition to help rehydrate your body, replace the nutrients and electrolytes lost through sweating, and extend the benefits of your session. Your body works hard in the sauna — giving it the fuel it needs intravenously makes a real difference.

Park in the TailorO4w retail lot next to our space (or on the side of entrance/exit if full). The TailorO4w lot off Arnold Street is also available. Register for "free 20min parking" before leaving — bring your license plate info inside and we'll validate you.

We accept all major credit and debit cards. HSA & FSA accepted. Bring your card and we'll process it directly.

Infrared sauna use as creating a cure for or treating any disease is neither implied nor should be inferred. Drinking an electrolyte-replacing water or sports drink is strongly recommended before and after use. If any of the below apply to you, please consult your physician prior to sauna use.

Cardiovascular / Diabetes / Obesity

Consult your physician prior to use. Heat stress increases cardiac output and heart rate, which can increase by 30 beats per minute for each degree rise in core body temperature.

Medications

Some medications affect heart rate, blood pressure, or circulation. Diuretics, barbiturates, beta-blockers, anticholinergics, and antihistamines may impair natural heat regulation. Consult your physician.

Alcohol & Substances

Do not use the sauna while intoxicated. Alcohol increases heart rate and decreases judgment, which can lead to serious reactions. Use of alcohol, drugs, or certain medications prior to a session may lead to unconsciousness.

Elderly

The ability to maintain core body temperature decreases with age. Operate at a lower temperature and for no more than 15 minutes at a time.

Children

Children's core body temperature rises much faster than adults due to higher metabolic rate and limited ability to regulate temperature through sweating. Operate at a lower temperature and for no more than 15 minutes at a time.

Reduced Ability to Sweat

Multiple Sclerosis, Central Nervous System Tumors, and Diabetes with Neuropathy are associated with impaired sweating. Consult your physician before use.

Hemophilia / Bleeding Disorders

Infrared sauna use should be avoided by anyone who is predisposed to bleeding.

Fever / Heat Insensitivity

Do not use the sauna if you have a fever or are insensitive to heat until the fever fully subsides.

Pregnancy

Pregnant women should consult a physician before using an infrared sauna.

Menstruation

Heating the low back area during menstruation may temporarily increase menstrual flow. This should not preclude sauna use, but be aware of this possibility.

Joint Injury

Recent (acute) joint injuries should not be heated for the first 48 hours or until swelling subsides. Joints that are chronically hot and swollen may respond poorly to vigorous heating.

Implants

Metal pins, rods, artificial joints, or other surgical implants generally reflect infrared waves and are not heated by this system. Consult your physician prior to use.

Pacemakers / Defibrillators

The magnets used to assemble our saunas can interrupt the pacing and inhibit the output of pacemakers. Please discuss with your doctor the possible risks this may cause.

Recent Surgeries

If you've had any abdominal surgery, C-section, tummy tuck, or breast augmentation, consult your physician before use.

In the rare event that you experience pain or discomfort during your session, immediately discontinue use and let our team know. When in doubt, always consult your physician before your first session.

Prior to your first appointment please read & sign our consent form. It will be emailed or texted to you — look for "Replenish has accepted your appointment." The consent is attached titled "view form."
